See Russ is one of those stepping up to the fact our benchmark as a club has been raised by the move........we need to all be like him if the club is going to progress with the move the owners made.

That was the opportunity.....to raise our expectancy standards as a whole for the club to make it work.

Yes we have a small squad but I'm positive that a better manager gets better results with the same squad.

Moyes is part of the problem.

He defended those two cunts during and after the disastrous January window. Saying they did all they could to get players in. Which was utter bollocks. So for me, if you support the problem, then you are part of the problem.

He's also overseen some fucking tragic results this season. Not just the appalling performances in the two legs of Europa Semi. But yesterday, and six points taken from us by Brentford and the worst Man Utd team ever known. Shit result at home to Brighton, two points taken off Burnley. Much of which has been down to him sitting on his hands when we needed to change it up. Then when he makes a change its all too little too late.

Its ok him staring at the interviewer all boggle eyed and angry telling us the team's performances were not good enough. Well neither was yours Dave. He can't keep palming shit performances off onto the players. he needs to look at his own performance and start to use the squad properly to go and get results. It's like he sends the players out and if it ain't working its their fault.

There have been so many positives from this season. The fact we are pissed off at not getting into the Europa is evidence of that. But for me Moyes needs to up his game as much as the players.

Re: ⚽ Brighton v West Ham - Team for Brighton - Preview - Official Match Thread FT 3-1
Yeah it certainly feels like a missed oppourtunity and 'what could have been'

Dropping 6 points to Arsenal Man Utd and Brentford is what done us..... oh and only taking 2 off Burnley and those shit results at home to Soton and Leeds.

But being best of the rest with our small squad and getting to a euro semi final....... I think thats a promising season for us. If we add quality and depth then this squad are shaping up really nicely to be pushing top 6/4 next season

Re: ⚽ Brighton v West Ham - Team for Brighton - Preview - Official Match Thread FT 3-1
It was a good season overall.

But take any snapshot of the table based on results post December and we were bottom half. 5 PTS from the last 7 gameweeks was relegation form and we were playing are strongest team each week

Clearly the lack of any transfer action in January had a big impact on the fall off of results.

Next season will be defined by , what key players we keep and the quality and number of signings. Starting from the back, I would be making offers for nick pope.

Time to see the colour of our owners money. And I don't mean selling Rice & Bowen with a partial reinvestment on journey men.

To get 7th with the size of our squad and a euro semi final....i think well done to Moyes and the players.

We had some fantastic games along the way, and some of the best moments at the OS since moving there.

The shine was taken off in the last few weeks, we all know why we limped down the finishing straight quite severly but theres plenty to be optimistic about going in to next season and another European tour.

Asking for Moyes' head is a bit extreme, he has built us up so well he deserves to keep it going. Big summer ahead, then we go again next season

Haha, so now you're saying ''as is Moyes'' after it was pointed out to you recently, when you were shouting fans down for being unhappy with a performance, that if Moyes isn't happy why can't the fans be. Hahaha, what a cunt!

Exceptional season? Do me a favour. It was an above average season, but not "exceptional".

An exceptional season would have been winning the Europa League or the League Cup, two trophies we had the most realistic chances of winning. But we bottled both of them in the latter stages, which is par for the course for "nearly man" Moyes teams.

The man hasn't won a major trophy in over 20 years as a top tier manager, and I doubt he will win one anytime soon.

I would definitely get rid if a better manager came along, one who actually has a pedigree of winning major trophies.

I don't want to go on about this, as it just seems like I'm going round in circles.

Moyes has total control over transfer - Source: Moyes himself

Moyes was sitting on a load of cash in January - Source: Moyes himself

He should shoulder some (a lot, IMO) of the blame. If you're bringing up exhaustion then he could have played a number of the YOOFS at times, and he could have bought in January.

Re: ⚽ Brighton v West Ham - Team for Brighton - Preview - Official Match Thread FT 3-1
The negativity is a real sign of disappointment from a passionate bunch of fans.
That's a good thing in my eyes.

Moyes has been a good manager for us, and has done well to get us where we are with a squad basically on the edge of exhaustion. It shows a drive and push to get the best out of a squad, especially considering the age of key players.

But sometimes the best isn't there, stress and exhaustion prevents the best from anyone and players go through the same.

The real negative is not bolstering this club with the investment needed to rotate exhausted players. A lack of being able to commit young players to flourish and grow in experience and a lack of addition of quality for key roles. That's the negative and I don't place that on Moyes but on the owners and a head of recruitment not allowed to do his job.

This clubs owners do not know how to play the financial aspect of transfer market and that really is part of their job isn't it?

Spot on Swindon.

I was bitterly disappointed with yesterday’s second half showing, as was Moyes, but I’m not going to let it ruin what has been an excellent season.

A few astute signings and adding a bit of pace to our attack will see us be in good shape for the new season.

In Moyes I trust.

“We have been dire”

“We are chokers”

“Moyes can Fuck off”

Some of the comments on here are absolutely ridiculous.

We have just had probably our best back to back seasons in decades and yet there are some on here saying we have failed and wanting the manager to leave.

Of course it’s ok to give an opinion and point out what they feel we could have done better but some of the comments just feel like they have no clue about what’s go on over the past 35 years.

Brighton are not only our bogey team but also one of the most in form teams in the Premier League. In the past month alone they have defeated Man Utd, Arsenal & Tottenham. It was always going to be a really tough game so to say we choked is a bit OTT.

In reality we have totally over achieved over the past 2 years. We have 2 or 3 really good players that some of the bigger teams would be interested in but other than that we are no better than the likes of Brighton, Villa, Everton, Southampton, Newcastle etc.

Moyes has his faults and he as much as anyone has to take the blame for signing Vlasic and also failing to identify new players in January but what he has achieved in the past 2 seasons should not be ignored just because we had a flat ending to this season.

Re: ⚽ Brighton v West Ham - Team for Brighton - Preview - Official Match Thread FT 3-1
I feel like for many of us, being annoyed about our season is a good thing. It shows how good our team is now that we expect more. I think thats a positive development. You can feel it was a shit season for the right reasons, rather than oh we just avoided relegation etc..

And yes Moyes should be questioned because thats just how it is when you get successful. The bar rises. He knows that.

However you cant have it both ways. If you blame him for a poor season you have to remember that he got us to the point where we can have the luxury of saying "what a poor season".

Objectively he's had an amazing 3 seasons with us. And this season he's managed to do better than the last two as he's achieved only 1 less position and a semi final as well. Looking at he table there isnt a single club above us that actually shouldn't be there from a financial and previous success point of view. Not sure thats ever happened before. It would be hard at the begining of the season for any one to have expected more. But now we have a taste for it, I suppose we do.

I'm just hoping this summer he gets the players he says he's been saving his pocket money for! So we can what he's about when he's got what he wants. Maybe thats the missing piece for him.

That Liverpool result was phenomenal, looking back.

And if you can’t enjoy a late winner against Chelsea, then West Ham ain’t for you.

That’s not to mention Sevilla at home and Lyon away.

Also winning at Old Trafford in the League Cup, and knocking out Man City.

Another really poor showing yesterday and blew a big opportunity. Since Xmas we have really been hit and miss and when we are bad we are painfully bad.
The loss of Ogbonna this year has been massive. Defensively we have been frail and up front we have been tame.
Take Rice out of that team yesterday and its a battering. I'm fed up with people defending the performance by us by saying Brighton are a good side. They really arent anything special and certainly are not known for scoring lots. They are organised and hardworking but most Premier League sides are. Their form has been up and down.
The number of stray passes and lack of desire was shocking given we had something to play for. Players were on the beach.

It was a crap game, and clearly the players have had it.

We can argue Moyes is at fault for not using what money was clearly available for him (sarcasm noted), but in truth there wasn't the commitment to pay what was needed for recruits by KGBS.

The league position is a good one for us based on previous years, but here we are after a decade of misguided ownership without the top four and Champions League that was promised (and I mean promised).

If any year was to show intent it was last years and this. You take opportunity when you can and you reinforce when the motivation and energy starts to falter. Another gamble on torn hamstrings, jaded and ageing players and you get what you deserve.

Another missed opportunity, due to poor running of the club.

Blame Moyes but he just plays lip service to keep his job. The interest clawing ownership remain the problem imo.
